Hi all Ive got a Photina that has gone very leggy, i cut it back to about half last year and gave it a good mulch, but it still looks bad. Is there anything else i could do or would i be better getting a new one. I took some cuttings but they are not growing much. Any help appreciated. Karen

I think I would be inclined to start again with a nice shaped shrub and keep it pruned to keep its shape and also to encourage the lovely red new growth

Karen
Before getting rid of it, why not give it a good hard prune and see what happens ? I mean chop it down to about 12 inches and see how it goes from there. They're very common plants round here so if it doesn't do any good, you can always replace it later in the year.

What ever you decide to do, leave it for a couple of months. They should just be about starting into their new growth so you might find lots of new shoots as a result of your last lot of pruning!
