I WANT ONE! I want one, I want one, I want one!!!! Now, I've got that out of my system...should I get one? I was thinking of putting it in my front garden. It wouldn't be very sheltered from the wind, and would have to get by in heavy clay in partial shade. Any thoughts?

That's a good price - how big is it RM??
Just remember to cut out the straight branches. It has a tendency to throw them up and if not cut out they will eventually take over the plant.

Lovew 'em in the winter, fantastic structure but I HATE them in the summer . Maybe I should grow one in a large pot and then I could hide it during the warmer months S x

Sounds excellent Rosemother. I find them very boring in the summer but get excited if I actually see nuts forming. They really are best in the winter. Susie I've got two - one in a pot and one in the ground - go for it ;D

My son bought me my Contorted Hazel for Mother's Day about 26 years ago He had just started a weekend job on a nursery. It has been moved once when we moved house. My tree is towards the centre of the photo - I agree that it looks awful in Summer but lovely in Winter - I wouldn't be without it

Susie,I have just had a look at your garden - you have some really lovely plants I love your water feature I think you would have to put it in a pot - they are fairly slow growing. You do have some lovely plants in pots already

Hi, How big a pot for it to grow to a reasonable size, I have one in a pot that probably could do with repotting, We had 3 nuts last year. Sara

I think you have to sacrifice lots of nuts when they are potted Sara ;D Mine's in a pot which is about 16 inches in diameter I think, and it has been for about 8 years now. I feed it regularly and top up the compost when necessary, and it's still healthy. I think it can sense that it's higher than the patio though because some of the stems trail rather nicely but it's a good shape and seems healthy. It's about 2ft tall and VERY curly! My CH in the ground on the other hand has a more upright habit and is about 3ft tall, but the second one was already bigger when I got it. Does any of that actually help anyone
