How about a variegated ivy. Or a pulmonaria.

The first thing that sprung to mind was Mimulus luteus or Monkey Flower, which is a spreader with pretty yellow flowers in Summer/late Spring, according to the RHS Encyclopaedia. I've had it in a pot all Winter where it's kept all its leaves but this is the first flowering season for mine so I can't comment on the flowers from experience. Drawback - the RHS says it gets to 12" high, is that too high? But it likes bog and damp conditions, is very vigourous and 'self-seeds freely'.

Hi Mr. G ... try tansy. It loves boggy conditions has beautiful ferny leaves for most of the year and yellow flowers around August/September. Just beware, it is rampant ... cheers ...

They grow like weeds in my front garden - very pretty weeds I have to admit and a good bit of colour at this time of year!! Don't know if this is any help.. www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plantprofile_pulmonaria.shtmlIt mentions Stillingfleet Lodge Nurseries which is near me and I believe holds the National Collection of Pulmonaria - the website might be woth a look for any more information you might need.
