I think this is one for the rose experts ... my climbing rose have developed a sucker about 8 inches from the base of the main plant. Obviously, I have to remove this, but how? Should I just cut it off at ground level, or dig down to cut it off as close to the main plant as possible? Any advice gratefully appreciated ... cheers ...

Hi CC, The best way to deal with rose suckers is to don a pair of stout gardening gloves, and pull it off, perhaps with a deft half-twist. Don't cut it as otherwise it will just grow back.
