Does copper tape really deter slugs? Last week I treated the garden with nematodes, but these are horribly expensive - would copper tape be a once-off solution? I know that nemotodes have proven to be effective ... cheers ...

I put some round the top of a tub full of hostas last year and it was very successful. It's a bit pricey though.

Very pricey, cost of copper has soared over the past few years. You'll hear stories on the news about people thieving it from power sub stations or railway signals etc... I have a roll of it but the way its going I might sell it back and make a profit soon ;D

I'm using a lot more containers this year and was thinking about making my own. I've got a lot of copper pipe in the shed and was thinking along the lines of using double sided tape, and filing the copper pipe, then using the filings on the tape ...
Must be worth a try?

Just a thought, you could flatten the copper pipe down with a hammer to make a thin length that you could bend round pots, perhaps.

Doh! yeh. And if I cut the pipe length ways, then straighten it out I can cut it into 3 strips from one pipe. Then pop rivet it in place The wife's right, for some one so clever I'm ffffick sometimes ;D
