Hi LL
Primula denticulata is a possibility - I have a load in the garden and will photograph them tomorrow and let you see the comparison.

The leaves don't look right for Primula. denticulata somehow, they look sort of shiney and like a succelent. I have the white ones and they don't look like that at all. I'm curiuos now

So LL as promised - the pic of Primula denticulata. I think that we can safely say that it is not the same. RF

Thanks RF - that doesn't look anything like what I have another suggestion was a Maiden Head Fern but I definately have never bought one of those. Time will tell I suppose - I'll give it another couple of days and see what it looks like.

It reminds me of a lichen/fern type thing I've seen growing on old walls in the cracks.

That long tendril in the middle.....Triffids? I wouldn't mind finding a few in my garden (providing they aren't Triffids). Has anyone had a delve in the RHS Encyclopaedia? Problem being, if nobody knows the name of it it'll be more of a trawl - I'll have a go.

Not a Fox Tail Lily, they come up with solid pointy shoots and then the leaves appear pointin up hill and out of the top, trust me I have some This is getting more and more intriguing ;D

I saw this thread this morning and I've been thinking about it all day! I don't think it is a Primula either. I can see why Chuckles suggested a succulent of some kind..I wonder if it will uncurl anything like a frond or start growing tall from the centre of the rosette. How intriguing.....it looks as if it could be quite malignant! Like a growth of some kind...sorry LL! What sort of conditions is it growing in? It looks as if it might like the damp. PLEEASE keep posting pics of it - I can't wait to see what it turns into.......

Craft moment with the Fern someone thought it was Harts Tongue I have only bought one fern, last year, and it's still in it's pot and no where near this. 4P It's on the very shady side of the garden, very damp in winter and it has got roots like a Primula ( I had a broggle!) Same photo - only bigger..

Having just seen the close up, I am going back to saying that it is a Primula of some description.
It is just the curly unfurling bits of the leaves that make it strange and how shiny it is.

Well, I've been trawling through Google looking for pictures of an obscure Primula called Primula fernaldiana which I thought sounded as if it was possibility but no luck and now I've run out of time....I never knew there were quite so many (um many many many!). This is terrible - please someone find out what LL's plant is!
