I have two wisterias over my lounge window. One is in flower, the other is nowhere near it.....same soil, same situation, same treatment, just a different plant (although the same species)
The one at work is as dormant as it was in mid December but my dads is just approaching flowering.
And yours ?

Mine, and my neighbours' are all at leaf bud stage. However, although my neighbours' are likely to flower at some point, I doubt mine will this year as it is still a very small and young plant.

I was just looking at mine today andy!
Like you I have two, same situation, soil etc but even the same type. One is well on the way to flowering but the other one looks as though it is still "asleep". the only diference between them is abot 4yds.

OMG they are in flower already? ? Mine is only just starting to show leaf buds - it's a long time before I expect to see flowers! Mine has lots and lots of flower buds but no sign of a leaf yet. The flowers are only 1cm or so long so I expect it will be May before my specimen is flowering. Nothing unusual in that methinks ;D

Here's a pic of my wisteria taken a few minutes ago. The left hand one is far more advanced than the right. Absolutely glorious scent wafting around the front garden

Blimy. I have one on my pergola. The flower buds are growing but it will take some time before it flowers. Is your other one on a warm wall too?

I suppose by having them flower like this, you extend the flowering time. I sat outside on the window sil this afternoon whilst topping the pond up and the scent coming from the Wisteria was incredible.

And they just seem to get better and better. I've got people knocking at the door commenting on how nice they look. And the scent from them is to die for

They look marvellous Andy - I wish I could smell them as well.
My standard looks awful, - a lot has died during the winter. If I let it flower (last year there were over a hundred flowers) can I then cut it back hard, or is it too late?
If I get 10 flowers this year I will be lucky.

So Andy or whoever can help me. Last year my standard wisteria looked like this: This year I haven't had one flower and it looks like this: Shall I prune it back now or give it the last rites? Thanks RF

Blimey...what have you done to it Sue .....personally, leave it be and feed it up well. Water well when dry and give it a weekly liquid feed. let it grow and prune the long growth back to 6 buds in August and then back to 2 buds next feb. We'll get it in flower again. Is it in a pot or in the ground ?

I haven't done anything to it - honestly - truly!! It is full of dead wood which I am assuming I can get rid of?
It is in the ground - it was originally in a enormous tub but I thought it would do better in the ground - silly idea wasn't it!!
What I can't fathom out is that we have all had a mild winter - well what would have happened had we had a hard one......
OK Andy I will feed it up and then prune in August and I will take some pics and show you before I carry on.
OK?
Thanks Andy

As it was a week ago. The flowers are already fading. Or rather the leaves are getting so big they hide the flowers. Funny thing is that it hardly smells at all. Are there varieties with less smell? I can't say it smelled much last year but it did have a lot more flowers. Maybe Wisteria like apples needs a good solid frost to do well.

For those of you who despair that their wisteria will NEVER flower - hang on in there - mine has gone overboard this year - well over 60 blooms - I really dont know how long I have had it - it seems years and years ago It is exactly the same as Dutchy's and no smell with it - the flowers are the same too - it now seems to be growing into a standard and not throwing out shoots as I really want to train it to grow across the front of my house - it did previously
