We had to move two trees last year. because of an extension to the house. We moved and planted them immediately with a JCB, we got as big a root ball as we could and them we watered them well as it was hot weather but they were not growing, they we at the dormant stage. They were ornamental pear and a crab tree. But the pear has only one branch with buds on it now and the crab looks very sad. Should i dig them up or leave them where they are?

Do a "thumb test" on them.....with your thumb (or a finger), just remove a slither of bark from the dodgy area of the tree....if it's green underneath, the plant is still alive, if brown, the plant is brown-bread.
The problem you have is the trees may take many years to recover from the move and therefore you will have a complete mess for a while to come. I'd personally leave them for a few months to see what comes out....keep them well watered and spray the foliage with water especially in the evenings. You could even cut them back a bit. If there's no improvement by June, i'd get rid.
