Hi all, just noted that my newly-planted baby chaenomoles in the front has had two of its branches pulled off, leaving a scar (kids) . I'm worried it won't survive - the bark has been pulled off for about an inch. Is there anything I can do? The two branches were left beside it, and I've made cuttings of them (insurance). Any advice gratefully appreciated ... cheers ...

I adore chaenomoles...the flowers look like wax flowers. I honestly think your plant will be fine....they are pretty hardy and should form new buds soon. I'd personally leave the plant to it and it will scar over and heal by itself
Unfortunatly, quince aren't the fastest of growers....especially for a climber so it might take a while for it to grow to it's former glory....but stick with it.

Thanks Andy. I'm really spitting because our last attempt in the same spot was a pyracantha in a pot - which got stolen, pot and all (big pot, big plant, lots of thorns - these &*^%$ must have been really motivated). Anyway, I'll leave it and hope for the best ... cheers .

CC I damaged my own this time last year when I was tidying the back of the border, it grows against the fence panel. Instead of getting the snips I tried to break it and ripped the bark I then forgot to trim it, got carried away with something else as you do. Anyway it has been fine, hope yours is too
