Hi all ... last year I sowed three clianthus seeds; one failed to come up and the other two came up but died . I nicked the seeds as instructed, and sowed them in a covered seed tray. I have three seeds left which I'l like to sow this year - any tips on how to achieve success? I'd really like to grow it ... thanks and cheers ...

I've never grown from seed but i would try either nicking the seeds as you've done or by sanding down a small area of the seed coat with sandpaper (scarification).
I would then soak the seed in tepid water for at least 24 hours to allow the seed to draw in sufficient water for germination.
I would then possibly wait until spring before sowing as per your instructions.
That's really all the advice i can offer.....did you pre-soak the seeds when you last did them as i would considder this to be vital.

Hi Andy ... thanks for replying, yes I did all that . The two that died did so almost immediately after I'd removed the tray cover (following germination); would it help to leave the cover on longer ... or not to use a cover at all? ... cheers ...

Might be worth leaving the cover on this time and maybe just taking the cover off an inch at a time. Maybe the shock from a nice cosy humid, warm environment to a cooler, drier one was a bit too much.
As i said, i've never really grown them so i'm not the best person to comment.
Good luck
