Mmmmm ... anyone ever grown Campsis Radicans from seed? Around how long do they take to germinate? They've been in around two weeks now and there is absolutely no sign of life at all ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) They were sown on damp compost, with "propagator lid", and are in a pretty bright spot in the hall ... cheers ... From the information I have they take about 8 weeks to germinate cc, so you have a bit of a wait ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Sorry to hear of your problems RF ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) It is sooo frustrating to lose them like that after germination! Fingers crossed for your second sowings ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) x Tig

Also it's worth noting when they say propagator they mean heated theseedsite.co.uk/seedsowing.htmlGood luck, not long to wait ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I'd send you some over RF but I don't think customs would like a tin of powder going through the post. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

I am pleased to say that things have got a lot better on that side - the stories I could tell about the German post and what happens to it!!
Tins and white powder however would probably not go unnoticed!!

We've only even been inspected through Customs leaving UK, never returning. Last time they were really concerned about the tank we had under the bonnet of the car. They then realised that we were indeed correct in advising them that as were in the Porsche the engine was at the back. The tank was for the petrol. Took a while though ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Thanks for that, Tig and Chuckles .... I always forget about that site ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png) ... well, just last week I told myself I wouldn't sow anything more because we have no room ... but then on Saturday I happened to be in town, and just happened to go into a garden shop where they happened to have Mr. Fothergill's seeds ... so came away with Penstemon 'Tubular Bells Purple' and Echium 'Blue Bedder' ... have just sown the Penstemon in an unheated prop ... so here's hoping ;D ... The Eurphorbia is outside, and definitely getting the required cold spell at the moment ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ... cheers ...

I have still quite a lot to sow. Must do the spare SP Blue Danube; Cosmea purple and white; sunflowers 3 varieties; and maybe Ipomoea Tricolor. I have Leonotis nepetifolia as well but have never grown that. It was a gift from a plant mad man I met at a plant swap. I don't have a clue how to treat this so any tips are welcome.
By the way your cold spell made the Dutch news ;D Brits go all white ....

I googled Leonotis nepetifolia as I had never heard of it - it certainly looks very interesting.
Good luck with it - have you sown it already?

Most of my no shows over the years, I'm not that patient and the room could be better used for those that do put their roots out. Trouble is, I want the plants now! and waiting that long for something that easy to get hold of grown ready for you is not me. I think you have the patience of a saint!! At least with cutings and things you can see the state of progress ;D ;D

Makes you think Chuckles, doesn't it? I sometimes bung what I think are failures on a bottom shelf in the GH for a while - a kind of 'not giving up hope' tactic. I give 'em about three months, or until I've got my 'tidying up' head on, and if nothing's happened then they go. Usually, nothing has happened and so away they go. Might have to leave 'em longer, methinks! ;D

Now, those look very healthy Chuckles ;D Good luck with the Chocolate Soldier! Still nothing from the Aquilegia or Euphorbia outside; I've removed the propagator lid because there was a lot of condensation - and still waiting for the Campsis ... cheers ...

Your seedlings look fantastic Chuckles. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I tried the chocolate soldiers last year, but can't remember what happened to them. I had a lot of casualties, and ended up chucking lots of little pots of half dead seedlings in the beds as a last gasp at rescue, but I'm not sure what went out. There is a clump of aquilegia that I am carefully watching at the base of our old tree, it will be interesting to see what it is. I've got two more to try now - Green Apples and Mrs M I Huish. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

RF The mad lovely man was at the plant swap again and told me I could sow them indoors now which is what I did. Do you beleive he even brought some he sowed to show us ignorants what the plants should look like ;D And he brought an oldfashioned indoor orchid for a south facing window and yes he did talk me into taking some home ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I sowed some more Nicandra indoors as there was a bit of a tip over with the others ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) And I sowed some on the allotment as well. The amount of bugs out in the full there is incredible. There is no natural balance what so ever. Whitefly here comes Johny ... er Nicandra.
