I remember seeing somewhere that you can take cuttings from a bunch of cut flowers, I can't remember where I saw it but can anyone tell me how please.
I have a bunch of carnations that have an unbelievable scent to them, normally there isn't much smell to them at all but these are amazing.
Thanks in advance

It may be too late if you have trimmed them already? But if not, look down the stem, and you will see little shoots sometimes. Grasp them firmly between finger and thumb, then give a sharp tug. Insert this shoot into compost or sharp sand. It should root easily. all carnations and garden pinks are propagated by this method, and the little bits you tug off are called 'pipings' good luck!

Thanks Wee but do I keep them indoors or can I put them outside?

I would keep them inside on a windowsill

Definately inside on the windowsill but don't bother with a plastic bag or anything, and they can take quite a while to root. The last time I had carnations (a couple of months ago now) I just bunged the little shoots into soil and they are all still alive - well they haven't shrivelled up and died anyway ;D I've no idea whether they have roots or not yet though coz I haven't poked around

You can usually get them to root in water too & then pot them up.

I'll try both ways and see which one works best.
Thank all
