For some reason my Lantana cuttings didn't root this year but I managed to get some seeds.
I have heard that they are rather difficult to germinate...so has anyone got any tips for me. I don't have a heated propagator - just a kitchen window sill.
Also will they grow true - these were such a gorgeous yellow and white that I haven't seen often.

Never grown them from seed before but i do know they're becoming more popular as a basket or tub plant and can be obtained easily in spring as plugs or small plants.

Thanks Andy - actually I think it may be a waste of time for me as I have just goggled and they can take up to 6 months to germinate and they need a lot of heat.......I am not sure how I could manage it really.

Not sure on this but, would it be possible to do cuttings from Lantana, if I've got the right plant they self root where they touch the ground don't they

The catalogue stated that 'germination can be sporadic' when I bought my seeds....they've been in the heated propagator for weeks, no sign of anything yet

I have found this information - don't know if it will help?
Lantana urticoides soak seed 48 hrs, replace with warm water every 8 hrs, sow @ 70ºF for germ in 4-6 wks, keep warm x Tig

I must admit Cheery that is why I didn't bother in the end...as I said I only have the kitchen windowsill which is facing North anyway so I thought I wouldn't stand a chance.....now you are having problems, I think I was right to leave it.
Good luck though.

Can't you start them off in the airing cupboard RF? If you've got the seed, you might as well try.

Would love to Amo but we don't have airing cupboards in Germany - lots of things we don't have here when I come to think about it.....

Yes we have a central heating cellar - next to the wash cellar and the other bits of cellars that we have. Bit dark but warm - good idea.
We have warmth but please bring SR flour, marmite, bacon, cheese......fish and chips...oooooooo....my mouth is watering.
