Love those 'parrot' tulips. Hard to believe that fortunes were made and lost on these one time when you can pick them up so cheaply now...

Chuckles did you save any of your old bulbs? Going to try mine again for next year, can't believe they have had it after only one year

Me throw anything away never ;D I dead headed after flowering, fed them and hid them out of site by the side of the poly kennel. It's fairly sheltered there and thats where they will stay over winter in there pots. If it's a hard wet winter I'll try and find room in the PK. They really were worth doing for dotting about the place, I had them just sat on the edge of paths and such, lovely. I'll pot these new ones up and put them with the others. I'm thinking of mixing the new bulbs in pairs, in the order I've listed them.

I lifted mine after they have completely finished and they have been hiding in the shed ever since (must get round to clearing the shed out soon - they are in there somewhere ). Got some alliums from my brother so might mix a few in too.

I had lots of tulips planted in pots but once they had died down, I removed them and dried them out and packed them away in paper bags. I will replant them in the autumn. If you plant a few in smallish pots, you can bury the whole thing in your flower beds, then when the tulips have finished you can whisk the pots out and replace them with something else.

Last year I had 'Angelique' and 'Black Parrot' in pots at the front of the house. They were amazing. I have kept the bulbs but i think I may just put them in the borders rather than give them pride of place, just in case they aren't so good.

I like that idea of yours PG to put pots in the garden and then take them out, very handy I can't see much of my garden from the house, only a paths width up to the top:( thats why I do pots that I can put on the paths.

Always makes me think of winter, I suppose it is time to start the winter pansies too. I like to put pink May flowering tulips at the bottom of wall boxes, purple April flowering on top, purple & blue crocus on them & purple pansies on top. My purple loving neighbour enjoys it so much and I think it looks quite classy.

I'm a bit predictable with my winter pots and mainly plant them out with winter flowering pansies which I buy as plugs, but the one thing I always do is throw in some anemones which I think are absolutely gorgeous in Spring when they come through. I remember the first time I bought them, I thought I'd been ripped when I opened the packet to find this little shrivelled up nuggets. Boy was I wrong!

Well, Chuckles, if she has given you those, then I think you must be a lovely neighbour too. Bless you Wee, she's a good neighbour too. We have a good relationship, we get on but are not in and out of each others houses, we just have the occasional chat over the garden fence, perfect neighbours. She gave me a bunch of wallflowers the other day and I gave her an everlast Sweetpea. Still not got my Tulips planted I've been going to do them all week. Got some Paperwhite daffs to plant too and I noticed today they have started shooting Must get them sorted this weekend

Garvota are georgous and I've grown queen of the night which gave a lovely display. I was outside getting some fresh air today too and was amazed at how everything is shooting up all over the place. I love it when you forget what you've planted where and you get a lovely surprise ;D my tulips have moved up just a little this past couple of weeks
