On a visit to the GC I bought some Ixia corms, also called African Corn Lilies, 10 Yellow and 10 White. Thanks to Dutchy for lots of info on them I have planted them today into 2 plant pots in the GH. Here are some pics of what I have done so far. This next pic is of the planter that I will put them into when they go out in the garden, its the one on the left. I will keep you all posted on their progress and pics of them when they flower.

Carolann, those 'pots' are gorgeous - I've always hoped to find old clay pipes in a skip, but no luck! I planted Ixia last year, and they are beautiful, but stupidly I planted them in the ground and you really need to have them in a pot to appreciate their delicacy ... good luck with them ;D ... cheers ...

I have never tried growing Ixia--Which thread was it that Dutchy gave lots of information on them? As I will be mainly Container growing now I will give these a try if I am not too late . Can I start them off on the Kitchen windowsill?

Hope you have more luck than me with Ixias, Carol I've got 2 potfuls, had them a few years now, and neither has ever produced a single flower In cold weather they send up nice fresh green shoots. Come the warmer weather when they should be flowering, the shoots turn brown and die back

Well the little darlins are starting to show now. They have been in the CF since planting. NO I hope that I can get some flowers on them, thanks for the warning, I shall keep an eye on them.

I'm just about to plant mine, but I'm going to keep them in the greenhouse, too wet and cold here outside I reckon. Just down my lane there is a little works which sells all those clay pipes, so there is an abundance of chipped and broken ones. Coach parties catered for
