Came down this morning and peered out the french windows and this is what confronted me: The greenhouse has now been put up again in the pouring rain. The cover has a small rip but at least it is still in one piece. I have put more large stones at the base and I hope it is now secure. Managed to rescue most of my sweetpeas but I am going to have to repot most of them. PJ

PJ, you poor thing ... hope you manage to rescue everthing. You might want to think of weighting it down with a paving slab on the bottom shelf ... cheers ...

Oh no after all that effort. I have been in bed most of the day ( storm or Migraine or something with the stomach feels like all 3) and just nipped out to have a peek at things. So far so good. No damage that I can see. but it is still going strong. Not as bad as the UK though. Saw some pretty bad pics and hope you all are well. I hope RF is alright in Germany as they seem to be more in storm alley than I am. Some tea and I am off again.

Thanks everybody for your kind words regarding my mini greenhouse disaster!
I have managed to salvage most of them and the mini greenhouse is now back in place with more big stones on the bottom shelf.
I have been brave enough to put the plants back in and fingers crossed that it won't fall over again. I must have been unlucky with the wind direction. It looks pretty safe now! PJ PS I posted on The Weather thread earlier today I was so p****d off.

That's a shame PJ. I've had exactly the same problem with one of these mini-greenhouses.
The ultimate solution was to place three large coping stones on the base and wire the top to the main GH! Even so the cover only lasted one season.
Perhaps you could tie or wire yours to that wooden fence?

poor PJ and RM it's enough to make you swear. All that work and care, hope the poor things all survive. My GH door had blown open in the night and the wind had whipped stuff about, all looked a bit battered this morning, haven't been back to check because it's been horrid out. Cloches on my onions and carrots were whipped away and they are flat to the ground, pots blown over and smashed, oh dear it's enough to make you

My mini greenhouse bit the dust! The cover came off and the bit of plastic the top rail was pushed into completely broken on both sides. I've found one piece and am toying with the idea of glueing it back in place and getting a new cover - cheaper thank getting a new one!

Just thought I would revive this thread to remind people with mini greenhouses of the potential disasters caused by stormy weather.
My mini greenhouse is still standing (it was last time I looked!) even though there is a howling gale out there at the moment. What I did before it got dark was to put a second layer of bricks on the bottom shelf as I have no way of attaching the greenhouse to anything. PJ

Thanks to this thread before, my OH and I tied my 3 mini GH's to two long screws that we hastily put into the wall. I have put heavy pots and stones in the bottom as well.
Fingers crossed that you are OK this time PJ.

my little plastic treasure has survived the gale force winds, I've weighted it down with sods lifted from the new flower bed and a bag of compost from the GC. I too have nothing to tie it to.

Like you LNG, I would be upset if I lost my little greenhouses - they don't hold so much but I think they really are good for the money. Mine are still in place - just a few pots walking around the garden at the moment.
