Looks a bit rude to me Shrub! SO, I'll try and remember to take some more. These digital cameras are great! I'll have to try and get them when they start to get their tails but before the bubble bursts as it were!

I've cheated and pinched some frogspawn from mum's pond. Well they've got MASSES (enough to fill a large dustbin I'd guess!) and I've done it before so anything that would be transferred between her pond and our water garden has probably already been transferred.

Just been outside to have another look in the pond but still no frogspawn. I have heard the frogs in the evening,is that a good sign?

I would have thought so Dirtyboots. Mum says the frogs in their garden have been very vocal recently

I'd say it was a good sign DB The masses are gathering!!! It's lovely watching them leaping about trying to catch a girly frog and then (not so nice) nearly drowning her whilst they 'perform'!!! Keep us posted now

Finally got ours, when exactly it came, I don't know, didn't go into the garden yesterday, due to the wind, but it's been in the last few days. It's in the fish pond again, so will have to save some and put it in the burried tub, so the fish won't have it for their meals.

I have a big blob of frog spawn today but it was donated from soneone elses pond. I hope they dont all hatch or i will have hundreds. On average for every 1000 eggs you will get about 4 frogs reaching maturity. That is why frogs lay so much. They get eaten by other predators as well as their own kind. Keith

No racket and no blobs for me yet. Did see a frog the other night on the path though, thought it was a lump of mud until it jumped ;D Maybe it was looking for a mate, I'm living in hope it finds one

Have you had any frost SO? That might explain what's happened. That's the trouble at this time of year - I always fear for the spawn. But if you've any clumps that are lower in the water they might survive.

Yes Shrub the pond was frozen over last week but the spawn was at the bottom of the pond at the time. Maybe its not ment to be

The last two days I've seen a frog in the pond, just one all by itself No sign of any frog spawn yet though. OH has just come in from the garden and said there is a frog calling out, wonder if it's calling for a mate. Could have babies yet

Thought I'd bump this one up so anyone who has them can tell us when their first frogspawn appeared. We don't have any yet and last year the first ones arrived on 29/2.

Got my first lot on 26th Feb. Thought that was a bit early so looked back in my work diary and it was exactly a year to the day when they laid last year.
It's like a bloody Roman orgy in the pond at the moment ;D

Is there any room left for the frogs Andy??
We've had a few frogs and toads in the garden over the past year including last week and yeaterday and we put in the puddle pond. Not particularly looking for any this year but it would be nice!!

Superb! I'm going to check mum's pond at the weekend. I haven't seen our overwintering taddies yet so perhaps they snuffed it

First time of having frog spawn in my pond this week there was 2 frogs in there and a bunch of spawn. Last year i had to get some from a freinds pond but they have come up trumps this year.

Well as some of you will know I've demolished my old raised pond and just over a week ago I put the old pond elsewhere in the garden. I've seen a couple of frogs about in the borders and actually trod on one the other day it survived thankfully. Anyway to get to the point, the rigid pond liner was put in place just over a week ago, filled with water and a couple of days ago I put some of the plants back in. It's by no means finished, I still have to do all around the edges but yesterday to my great deeeeelight I saw this

That's great Chuckles! It didn't take 'em long to settle in did it. No it didn't and I'm well pleased I put the pond back in now, it was worth the back ache digging the hole out for it etc just to get the frogs back
