Nooo I've not got anything yet, but they do find it rather difficult to get up to my little water garden. They've got lots of pots as stepping stones but they've got to make a bit of an effort. I'm sure there's some tadpoles left over from last year though, that haven't morphed into frogs yet.

But they know it is still feb and the nights are so cold the amfibians are not really into breeding yet are they? So far I have seen one frog in the pond and no newts yet. Never had frog or toad spawn but the newts usually get out in the multy numbers and take over the pond. They have loads of babies every year.

Seen our frog today - he was hiding in one of the piles of bricks that we shifted to make room for the new wall. Put him back by the pond and he shot off. Expect to find him at the bottom of the stairs again any day now ;D

The pond is frozen today. Its a good job no frogspawn has appeared yet, it probably would have died. I can't wait till spring comes and I do see some....

I reckon it's sometime mid to late Feb that we normally start see some frog spawn about. Last year it was almost the end of March for me

I've been keeping an eye on the pond and noticed this week that they are gathering in the water! Saw a huge specimen on the water's edge on Wednesday though as soon as he saw me he made off into deeper water! ;D No sign of spawn yet and I hope they dont until it gets a bit warmer.

Mucho excitement in the pond today! Couldn't count them all, but a fair few frogs in there, making that lovely croaking sound, and some lovely big clumps of spawn. And they're still at it! Just hope it doesn't freeze now

Just had an awful thought! Didn't check the fish pond - it has sheer sides and if they spawn in there nothing will get out. Early morning trip out there I think. Though not sure what I can do if they have. Will have to rig something up to help them get out!

Frogs out here tend to do the daft thing of going into the pumphouse in Spring. It has a rough outside but the inside is real smooth. Too high for them to get out too. I have a woodplank sit in there so they can climb out. Maybe you coud fit something like that to your fish tank. Would be good for dumb hedgehogs too.

I am amazed at how they hide away. We emptied our pond last year to revamp it and we counted over 50, hiding in the mud at the bottom etc. They all hopped off but I am sure that most of them must have returned.Duchy how lucky you are to have newts, I love them and we dont have any. CJ

Lovely isn't it to watch them develop SO I'm sure it was a bit later last year before they spawned! I had my 'scope' trained on them yesterday whilst they were about their business. Fascinating to watch ;D

Well, this has been the best year ever for froggy activity! The pond is like a seething cauldron. They're still at it! And getting quite brazen too. Less inclined to hide when this voyeur arrives for a peep. Loads of spawn now. Please Lord, dont let it freeze BUT - saw two heron (Mr and Mrs?) yesterday, circling, as they do! They'll have a feast if they take up their stations by the pond! OH's office looks out over that bit of the garden, so he's got his orders to keep an eye out and bang on the window if they arrive.
