Thought I would show you pics of my new potato tubs which my OH made for me. Each tub is 2ft high by 2ft wide. This is what it started out as. Now I have 7 tubs. I should be able to put 5/6 seed pots per tub. They will be going along the top part of my little plot at the top of the steps on the left of the pic .

Brilliant, amazing even georgious Carolann ;D fab spud tubs. I'm rather envious especially as I paid £9.99 each for 2 tubs the other day approx 20" x 20" and £2.49 each for 5 18" x 18". Can't beat a bit home recyling either. What was the black outer used for in it's previous life

It was a drainage pipe that was left over so when I saw it that was it, it had to be my new spud tubs. My friend wanted it to make some jumps for her horse, she was a bit miffed when she saw it cut up ;)but understands that it will be used for a good purpose.

I want to know how your OH managed to cut it up so neatly carolann - I've tried sawing a large plastic barrel in two and it ended up very messy around the edges, not to mention extremely wonky!! x Tig

Hi Tig, he just used an ordinary saw and we just kept rolling it around. It is very heavy solid plastic, each tube must weigh about 10lbs. and thats before the soil goes in them.

Well impressed Carolann. I used big pots for the taters as well...not as nifty as yours but pretty big. I'm averaging 5 - 6 lb crop per pot...so yours should be even better!

Yes DG, I used 6 out of the 7 tubs and gave one to a friend for her spuds. They have been planted up in pairs with about 3/4 weeks between planting each pair. They are all doing just great and the first pair are just coming into flower These where the first ones planted. The little white tub has 3 spuds in from Morrisons Super Market and they are going to be emptied out this weekend, I will give and update in my Garden page.
