Just for fun ;D
I have found six things which you could plant as a perfect gift for February 14th (for yourself if not for someone special
)
But what are they? You need to identify the genus and the variety (for example - Iris, I love you.) The clue is to give you a hint at what the variety name is.
There is no prize for guessing them all correctly other than personal satisfaction (which in my humble opinion is priceless
Just post what you think they are, you can guess as many times as you like, but you must post all six answers each time (if you don't know an answer just put the questions number then NK by the side of it). We will have to see who is the first person with the most correct answers by 19:00 hours tomorrow (British time!!) x Tig
1 - Deciduous shrub - suitable for ground cover, coastal gardens and partial shade. Flowers are muddy, velvet blue. Still on trial in UK, originates from USA.
Clue - It could be everything you want!
2. Hardy bushy plant, usually found in mountainous regions, although this variety has Dutch origins! Flowers are white with a slight violet blush. Appreciates drier sorts of acid soils, this one is also lime tolerant. Plants form hummocks of growth.
Clue - Lets face the music and dance?
3. This one is a HHA/HP and popular for bedding and borders. Flowers rosy-pink - lots of other varieties around in pots at this time of year!
Clue - If you get a card - will you want to be theirs?
4. Hardy perennial with plumes of silver & white flowers. Prefers moisture retentive, damp soils. Could be classed as a bog plant. This variety was found in 1998.
Clue - Adorn me with these?
5. A bulb with floriferous double flowers on a strong stem. The petals are intermingled with lemon-yellow and white.
Clue - Chaps ... not always a fitting gift to buy for your lady?
6. Compact evergreen bush. Flowers in summer and originates from New Zealand. Excellent for towns and seaside gardens.
Clue - will put some fizz into your Valentines night?
Go on have a go - you know you want to ;D x Tig
