I have been offered a couple of guineafowl and I said yes without thinking...I haven't the faintest idea what to do with them and how they taste.
Can any of you help with recipes and tips please!!

My absolute favorite meat! Very close to chicken, just a bit.... warmer?...
How are they coming to you? Oven ready? Just roast them.

Well if they come covered in feathers you need to have a chat with your butcher and get him to hang them for you! ;D If they are oven ready then you cook them the same as any poultry: 20 minutes per lb plus 20 minutes, at 180 degrees. Guineafowl are delicious, like the best chicken you've ever tasted - I hope you enjoy them

Have to agree, the taste is like chicken used to taste hundreds of years ago!

So back with my report - we got 2 guineafowl yesterday. I have frozen one and we have eaten the other for lunch today. When the wife of the fella heard that we had never tried them and basically didn't know what to do with them, she prepared one of them for us - all I had to do was put it in the oven. She had stuffed the breasts with apples.....wonderful.

We will definitely be eating them again - I have asked to be remembered next time that they have some - they are not so easy to buy here.

Sainsbury's do them regularly EG but I'm not sure if they have the same season as phesant and partridge or if they are reared, in which case you may have to wait until Autumn. Worth the wait though.

Sainsbury's had them down a third in price yesterday. Worth the effort if you can.
