Just bought a lovely large flowered white campanula from a market stall. It hasn't come with any 'instructions', and the 16 year old behind the stall looked at me blankly when I asked Do you think it'll be ok planted out in the garden now? The spot I had in mind is in semi shade, on heavy clay (can back fill the hole with compost, though) Also, I might have accidently picked up an african lily Again, no 'instructions', but lots of green leaves. Would this be best in a pot?

Is the campanula a carpeting type such as C. carpatica or an upright such as C. persicifolia
Carpeting or creeping campanulas prefer very dry, well drained in full sun...although i do have some in total shade.
I'd happily plant it out now as long as the ground isn't frosted.
