O don't know how many varieties of Eucomis there are Dutchy? I have seen the bicolour, an all white one and I think Chuckles was going to order a purple/pink one I wait every year for this to bloom, my four petal tigridia ;D Out today - never let me down yet! For some reason I must have had summer bulbs on the brain last night - I woke up several times with one word in my mind - ornithogalum - I have no idea why that was lurking in the dark depths apart from the fact that they are in bud and I'm looking forward to them flowering (I need to get a life methinks : x Tig

I am expecting all my callas to have rotted as they were left out - my own fault. Apart from the black one which I think is in the bottom of the mini-growhouse (must check that might be mush too!) Today I have planted out an orange flowering Chasmanthe, which looked like a huge crocosmia corm, and had started to sprout. Also hymenocallis and loads of asiatic lilies, including 'Blackout'. I sometimes forget to plant the bulbs before I sow seed and then it is a nightmare trying not to disturb things, so this year .... sorted x Tig

I went a bit mad on bulbs as well today - I bought another Calla which OH sniffed about again but I think it is lovely - Green Goddess. Then I saw two Hedychium - one yellow that my OH wanted and one in red that I would have preferred - not to worry it won't be the last time that I go there. I bought one Tropaeolum tuberosum which will go well with the yellow Hedychium Gardenerium and also a Sandersonia Aurantiaca which is orange. RF

oohh they're lovely Tig, I've never seen a Calla like that before Tig. I planted 2 Echinechia tubers which I got for a bargain, hope they grow I just love them. The sparaxis I planted in feb seem to be coming up and I'm waiting on peacock orchids and californian bluebells. Still have'nt planted my free bulbs from J. Parker, must soak those anemone tonight and get them in tomorrow. If I can find somewhere for them, taking your advice on here I'll plant the sparaxis in a pot.

LG have you been on the sauce? Those are RFs purchases - mind you I would happily take them off her hands if she is struggling to find space ;D And the bulbs you need to plant in a pot are the oxalis! The sparaxis will be fine in a sunny border Looks like you spent a fortune RF, or did OH pay?! x Tig

They look a bit of alright, don't they...
Did OH pay - silly question Tig - they were a little on the expensive side really but the quality is very good.

I'm delighted with my Sparaxis. ;D I should have gotten a pic when the weather was good and quite a few of them had opened out. If the weather improves soon I will get one. They're beautiful shades ranging from peach to deep pink. The Oxalis are in a container all but 1 which is in the border. The leaves have lovely markings but there's no sign of flowers. How are everyone elses summer bulbs coming on.

The sparaxis and ixia are growing well but not flowering yet. The oxalis do have lovely bi-coloured leaves, and one has flowered - sort of coral pink colour LG. I have loads of lilies, some are getting colour in the buds. The chasmanthe is well leafed. The red ginger is doing well, and the crinum powellii seems to be growing much more vigourously this year. Trigridia and eucomis are coming through. Liatris spicata are shooting up all over the place from last year, I thought they were duds, obviously just resting! Tritelia laxa have buds on them, but I think I have lost the ornithogalum, no sign at all x Tig

I bought these Bulbs from Wilkinsons and cant remember what they are called -but they look as though they are going to make a good show. You can see my Lillies ( in bud) behind which are just starting to show a bit of colour now The ones in the foreground are Iris but I am not sure of the others just behind them. My Pineapple Lillies are starting to poke through the soil- as are the other summer bulbs eg- Sparaxis, Trigridia

Thanks Tig--I will make a note of the names in my little gardening diary-When they show their colour I will post a photograph of them. Isn't it nice when buying Bulbs/plants (not having grown them before) to find such gems. Will I have to 'lift and store' them during the winter months or can I leave them to over-winter? Any help welcome--Bigs

My nectaroscodums have been out for three years Biggs, but they are in a free draining border, might not be so lucky if the soil is heavy? Perhaps others who have grown them will offer a bit more advice. I'd hate to say leave them, and then you lose them x Tig
