OH is REALLY getting into tulips and would like some summer-flowering ones. Can anyone recommend a particular summer-flowering tulip, or a company to get some from?
Many thanks!

Sorry to appear dumb Plocket , but what exactly are summer-flowering tulips? Are they tulips or just a name for something similar?

Well to be honest I'm not exactly sure RF. OH has been reading that book about the history of tulips (he's that keen on them!) and apparently they are still tulips, but ones that flower in the summer. I'm not coming up with much on Google though

I know some are 'early' or 'late' flowering, but I think May might see the last of them.

Mmm that's what I thought from my research. I'll have to try and get more information from OH, because we've got tulips that are supposed to flower in May.

I must admit P that I thought most tulips would flower into May but PLEASE let us know if you discover anything else S x

Aren't they pretty? I don't think they were what OH had in mind but I'll certainly show him. Thanks RF

They are an American genus and having tried to grow them before I can tell you that they are not easy to keep. There is a superb book on them "Calochortus, Mariposa Lilies and their relatives. Mary E Gerritson and Ron Parsons. I do not have the ISBN number. I have looked at the book and it is very beautiful, but not bought it.
