I went out into the garden this afternoon and noticed this was beginning to flower. I love the delicate pink flowers. PJ

Andy, I inherited this when I moved in. I have to admit I had to look at my Tree and Shrub Expert Book and as you rightly say, it is early. In the book it mentions the R. Odoratum - I may consider looking for one to plant as I love scented shrubs.

I adore Ribes PJ....at a time when the garden is full of yellow and blue, it's nice to have a bit of scarlet (although Tulips will be out)....i have some R. S. 'Pullborough scarlet' at work for the first time and i can't wait to see them in flower.

Blimey! Agree with Andy, PJ. That is early. I have loads of R.s. about the place and they're in leaf now but they dont usually flower till end March/early April. Delightful bush, I just love the smell. Reminds me of childhood. Must look out for the yellow variety (thanks Andy!).

O-er! On the strength of PJ's pic, I went out to look at mine and it's got flower buds on it too!! And it's not in a sheltered spot by any means.

Sadly, I don't have one, but a few branches of it in a vase with some daffodils spells Spring to me. I love the smell, but some people think it smells like cat urine.
