When we had our tree pruned we asked to keep some of the chippings for use as a mulch. So now I have a black dustbin full of apple tree chippings and I am not sure when & where best to use them I can't keep them in there for long as I'll need it for me spuds Will they be ok on the veg patch or shall I keep them for the bed under the tree? Thank you and apologies for coming back with more questions Jardack

I'd suggest putting it where you want to suppress weeds jardack - maybe around your bulbs and plants around the apple tree? Or somewhere that gets more light and will be more prone to weed growth?

I'd also use it as a weed suppressant under shrubs or the like. They will rot down, eventually, but are a little coarse for planting in.

Thanks both, I think round the apple tree is the best place as the other large bed already has weedsuppressing stuff down. Assuming the sun stays out I will do it later = at least that will hide the new pathway Jardack
