Great news KL ;D They don't seem to do anything for ages and then you turn your back and there they are, fab. The flower stems on 3 of mine seem to hide amongst the leaves, they are the narrow leaved type of Orchid, can't remember the names

Apparently Karl was going to chuck it in the bin when we got back off holiday - he has no faith in me! I would have murdered him if he had

have a small collection of about twenty, keep most of them in the bathroom for the winter and the bedroom for the summer, we can get 100% humidity down here. feed them with orchid feed when appropriate, get a proper orchid pot: put rain-water in the bottom, don't like direct sun light. look out for the scented ones. research what type of orchid you have, some you leave the flowering stem on, others you snip it of. one day i hope to have a proper steamy hot-house. good luck, the worst thing you can do is overwater...... ;D

I let warmish water trickle through the pot about once a fortnight and let it drain befroe I put it back on top of the fish tank. Does that sound Ok do you think?

dear karlslass, are you using rainwater and orchid feed? it's very sweet you heat the water for it, with an orchid pot there is a space under the plastic pot where the roots grow down to reach the water, once you have the hang of it, it might need company....... now and again clean the leaves and take into the shower or bathroom so it can have steam, should live for years, i' ve had one for just over 4yrs, love waiting for the flowers to grow and open..... good luck ;D
