Hi All,
My sis has got me really interested in growing veggies from scratch and last year we did a few and the taste was great!
So once again this year I want to do more varieties bit I've run out of room in my garden. Will it be possible to grow in big plantboxes as I don't have a greenhouse, the likes of carrots, radishes etc.
I'm very green (naive not fingered) at this game so I need all the help I can get. thanks.

hiya ruthy, pretty well anything you could possibly want can be grown in containers of the right depth, and often prove more interesting that way than in conventional beds... Have a look at this for a start: gardenworld.proboards103.com/index.cgi?board=containermaybe you'll get some inspiration/confidence from there... OM.

Hi Ruthy I have only been growing veg seriously for a couple of years, but I have found so much pleasure in having a go I have removed some of the lawn so that I can grow more ;D I haven't got a greenhouse either, but we all share ideas and make the best of the space we have got. Loads of helpful stuff on the board - have a look at members garden plots and lotties under the Garden Gallery thread, as well as the container growing thread ;D x Tig

Hello ruthy. I've only been doing veg for about three years so I'm a novice too! It is great fun. I have a raised bed and do a lot in pots too! The links suggested above have lots of interesting threads and I'm sure you'll find something in there that grabs your interest. You could also get involved in our seed trials as we're doing a few veg, as well as flowers. gardenworld.proboards103.com/index.cgi?board=2008trials

Hia Ruthie! There's loads of stuff you can grow in containers. These days the packets tend to say whether they are suitable for containers or not but look out for small varieties which will do better.

Great Ruthie - I am doing all my veg in containers this year, - spuds, parsnips, beans, onions, radishes, tomatoes, chillies and peppers.
Not to mention two minaretta apple trees in tubs and tubs full of herbs.

i just remembered, if you buy decking squares, small size 50cm or bigger, screw them together at the corners with a bit of 2by2 in the inside angles a 5th for the base, line with breathable liner, bung in a bit of gravel for drainage and some compost... eh voila... a compact and bijoux container for under a 10er.....
