I have got one camellia in my garden that has nearly finished flowering and 3 that are just buds still. The only difference that is obvious to me is that the 3 that haven't flowered yet are planted in the ground and the one that is nearly finished is in a pot. However, there are some stunning huge camellias in our village (that are far too big to be in pots!) that have been out for weeks. They all get the same amount of sunshine (or rain at the moment!).

Mine is in the ground Jasmine
At my local garden centre they had masses of these, in pots, but think they may have been brought on - to sell - I almost bought another one ;D

When did you prune it? If you left it a little late last year, perhaps it's just a bit behind.

Hia Jasmine - it may be that your potted camellia is in a more sheltered spot.

I bought another one from our local GC a few days ago Jenny - it was meant to be a present but I haven't handed it over yet as one bud has just come out and it is a gorgeous pink peony flowered camellia and I think I might have to keep it and buy my friend something else!! I think you might be right about the shelter Plocket although nothing looks very sheltered in my garden at the moment as it has been either been battered or blown over by the wind.

I have one in a pot and it has a few fat buds on it atm. Whilst out and about yesterday I saw some huge ones in different gardens and some had flowered and were going over and some were just in bud. It will depend on a few things and like P said it maybe in a sheltered place, could also depend on how established they are, how much feed they get, water etc etc. If you've got buds then it should flower Jenny. As long as you feed and water it I wouldn't worry

Hi Jenny.. We have two camilla's. Nether are in flower yet, I don't expect them to until the beginning of April. ( That's when ours usually flower, they have never flowered in March.) I'm glad really, as late frosts sometimes catch the early flowering ones and damage the flowers. Like Chuckles says.. don't worry, they will flower if they have buds on...

Mine is covered in big fat buds. Likewise about half a dozen bushes in a friend's garden. No sign of flowers though.

Camellias are very varied, you can have camellias in flower every month of the year except for August ( I was told this by a head gardener at a N.Trust garden here in Cornwall). Yours is probably a latish flowering one.I have one which has finished, two in bloom and two in bud, so don't worry, I'm sure it will look gorgeous

I've had mine for a couple of years now and it hasn't flowered yet but it is still quite small and in a pot. It gets fed etc.
I'll get it into the ground this year... I hope.

Mine is in a large pot April, and is destined to remain there unless I break the pot, which would be a shame as it is a lovely ceramic one. My Camellia is flowering just now, and is doing well.

I have 2, both small (about 18 in) but bought with some flowers on last year, but this year they both have no buds I planted them both in the ground, in a sheltered spot, but it doesn't get much sun Would this be why there's no flowers this year? Or do they have to settle and recover from being planted out? Should I dig them up and put them back in pots until they're bigger? They look ok, no discoloured leaves or anything, just no flower buds Advice please.

Oh dear N.O am not sure why yours doesnt have any buds - mine seemed to like where it was planted and I think they prefer shade rather than full sun I saw loads all in flower at my nursery - I dont think they had grown them there tho - they had about 80 - was tempted but I resisted

AT LAST - it has started to flower - will post a piccy when it is worth it - not as good as last year tho
Has anyone noticed that this year there is less - less blossom on the trees - my next door's magnificant Magnolia was very sparse
