Hi LNG This is the only recipe I could find, I haven't tried it (I do what Amo suggests!!) 110g chick peas Juice of 2 lemons 2 fat cloves of garlic 4 tablespoons olive oil 150ml of tahina paste - this is supposed to be used if you want the proper authentic version of humous but doesn't sound absolutely necessary cayenne pepper salt Cover and soak chick peas for 2 hours. Then simmer them for 1 and a half - 2 hours until chick peas are tender. Drain them but save cooking liquid and blend chick peas with lemon juice, garlic, olive oil and 150ml of the cooking liquid. Add tahina paste as you blend these ingredients. The consistency should be like mayonnaise but you can add more cooking liquid if you think it is too thick. Season with salt and cayenne pepper to taste. Place in a serving bowl and garnish with a little more cayenne and/or chopped parsley. Somebody else may know where you can buy tahina paste as the recipe suggests it may not be very easy to find. Hope this helps!

Hi again LNG Have just been googling tahina paste (out of interest) and one site said it was an essential ingredient for humous. I have no idea if any of the supermarkets sell it but there are lots of UK based web sites that do and a recipe for aubegines and tahina paste caught my eye as well. Maybe it's time I try making it instead of just buying it! Thanks for your comment about my avatar - I wasn't sure about being Jasmine with a magnolia but I did it anyway!! ;D

My daughter has tried lots of recipes all to no avail until. I heard about a food co-operative called Unicorn in Chorlton Manchester. They have a recipe thread & she used that one & they all love it. Janet.

I've seen it sold in tesco and asda so try them. Also health food shops might be a good go.
You can try peanut butter or toasted sesame oil instead ya know. Might need to adjust the recipe a little but give it a try if you really can't get hold of it.
