If you had to narrow it down to just one thing, what would it be? What is the one thing that keeps you coming back for more?

Pay day....closely followed by.... Sitting there on a warm summers evening with no noise except the birds singing, a cold beer in hand and the smell of the honeysuckle, night scented stock and petunias all around me

The feeling of contentment when sitting in the garden after a hard days graft, glass in hand, admiring every single stem, leaf and petal! Well, that's one thing I love, I don't know if I have one thing I love MOST . I love it all S x

I think I'd have to agree with Jennywrenn. There's a definite buzz when you manage to help nature create those little babies.

I love it when people come to visit and they make pleasing comments about the garden, makes all the hard graft worth while. I love early summer mornings and late summer nights when no one else is around. and I love getting home from work on a warm summers afternoon and sitting amongst the flowers with a glass of wine. I just love the garden full stop, prefer outdoors to indoors.

I like looking at the garden on a Sunday Night after a day spent out there mowing, weeding planting or whatever and thinking "all my own work"
The back might be aching but the spirit soars even more so tasting that first warm cherry tomato!

I've had a long think about this and I don't think I can decide on one thing. However I do get a lot of satisfaction from how lovely I think my garden is, and enjoy it pretty much all year round. Especially when it's all my work - the garden was non-existant when we moved in.

The whole cycle - from seedling through to plate! The inexpressible joy of digging up the first crop of potatoes, pulling the first lettuce, and the eating of it. Truly marvellous ;D

... what everyone else has said ... the wonder of doing it yourself ... seeing a cutting grow into a flowering shrub - being able to nip out for herbs - the surprises when something self-seeds into just the right place ;D ... everything, really ...

The smell of my garden...from wet grass to the delicate and sometimes heavy scent of roses, herbs....the whole garden after a rain shower or a very hot day......all different.

For me after working with ill people all day long it's the hope and promise of life and growth and the wonderful colour and smell of the plants and feel of the soil. It's knowing that life is a cycle and even in the winter there is lots happening underneath the soil. ;D Really keeps me sane.
