Been there, done that Sandra, but a long time ago! See day 245 in the link below - French renovation project www.country-house-in-france.com/blog_wk36.htmThe best advice I can find on laying concrete is here www.readymix.com.au/Toolbox/DIY/layingConcreteGd.shtmlBut if you are doing it indoors there are loads of things to consider: Have you removed an old floor surface? What material are you putting the new concrete onto? Are there any signs of damp? (if it is internal you will probably need to damp-proof before laying the concrete!) How thick is the concrete - you may need to allow for expansion, then shrinkage!! In other words - you may be better off employing professionals Tig

For indoors, you can buy self-levelling screed mix nowadays. If this isn't waterproof (for damp floors) a powder can be mixed in with it. This was used on a house I had which was below the water table. Before application, water could be seen rising through the existing floor. After application, nae problem. One hazard though. In an old house, floors can slope considerably, meaning you could have a wafer thin layer at one end and a two inch one at the other. Meaning you'd have a step where you hadn't one before.

thankyou for you'r info, have found a swimming pool man that will take cash.it's just one days work big firms are n't interested and for wee firms there's a 2month wait. however, staying with concrete, will be making some concrete couches this summer. very excited. when my sister comes to visit, and the parents are here we need space for 9......should we watch a movie together. for real couches, that are robust enough, you'd need to buy leather.......but concrete may be a cheaper choice. will take some pickies when it happens
