Does anyone have any suggestions how I can protect my raised bed from next doors cats - short of landmines around the outside? Feeling really and seeing all that poo in there today Can I get some sort of frame or something to go over it maybe? Jardak

The plastic coated netting keeps the cats off my neighbours veg patch Jardack, he bought a roll from Wilkinsons. I use a tangle of twigs on the borders where things are growing, once things start coming up they don't seem to bother so much. just want to dig in the bare earth. x Tig

Anything twiggy. Berberis is good, keeps my lot off anyway.

Just an idea - we have problems with cats here as well. We also drink ground coffee. Now I have been told that this is a good fertilizer in the garden (which I had heard before) but also that if you sprinkle the coffee grounds around plants instead of throwing them away , cats do not appear.
My neighbour is trying it out at the moment after sticking her hands in poo and then threatening to strangle the neighbours moggie.
I will let you know if it works.

I went to my neighbours today Jardack and asked for the results so far.
After 10 days no more cat poo has appeared where she had sprinkled the ground coffee.....I looked myself and all I could see were cat prints around but no poo at all.
I have also been in google and found out that coffee grounds are a great fertilizer, if you add something else to it....
Soooooo - what do you think - I have already started saving ground coffee rests here.

I don't think that she will go off freshly ground coffee - rather like the English and their tea drinking, the Germans are known for their beer coffee consumption!!

Just a quick update on the coffee grounds - it works very well indeed - as long as the coffee grounds are wet.
It does not work when the coffee grounds are dry, presumably they don't smell.

I could never ride my pony out across Lymington common for weeks after the circus had been. I think the elephant poo was a deterrant as well as the big cats. Don't they sell lion poo in bags?
