I've just bought lots of fling 'em seeds just to cover the bare soil this year. They were all Mr Fothergills. Really very informative packets from common and latin name to a little picture showing you what the seedling will look like as it comes through. Great standard of marketing, pat on the back for them. They, unfortunately, didn't have a dark nasturtium. Thompson & Morgan did however. I have a bit of a hate hate relationship with T & M. I've been disappointed so many times by them I usually try to avoid them like the plague. They did have a Black Velvet Nasturtium though. All the other seeds from Mr F's, all fully documented on the back, were between £1.20 and £1.70 and contained a goodly amount of seeds. The T & M nasturtiums were £2.29 and had 15 in the packet. I didn't expect too many for nasturtiums and they seem to like it here and self seed anyway. There were 5.5 seeds in the pack!!! Once again T & M have let me down. Not a surprise really and I should have known better. But it's the damned inconveniance of taking them back, making a complaint (it's hardly the GC's fault!) and the delaying time in sowing. A few missing I could cope with but that's more than half missing. It's the principle of the thing that gets me more than anything. Anyone else have problems with the big boys? I'm going off for a sulk now.....

That level of discrepancy between what was quoted on the packet and what was in the packet deserves a call to trading standards Amo, I would have been furious Give 'em some earache!! They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it! x Tig

I emailed T&M a few days ago about some of their seeds that were a complete failure. Heard back from them today, they are going to replace them, so I hope you have the same result.

It's really annoying Amo - I know how you feel Last year I had a problem with Cosmos seeds from Suttons - the actual contents stated on the pkt was way above what was actually in the pkt. I needed 3 pkts of seed to get enough plants for my bedding scheme. I complained to Suttons and they sent me 3 pkts - twice I would complain to T & M Having said that I have always found their plants and seeds to be good - if a little pricey! All the Lilies I have had from them have been glorious

I bought some scabious seed from T&M in 2006 that were sposed to be 'Ace of Spades' (deep purpley-black) but when they started flowering they turned out to be pink and red varieties...very nice but not what I ordered. When I emailed customer services they apologised and the following spring sent some replacement seed. Apart from that occasion I've not had any problems with them really, the seed I've had from them over the years has all been good quality and the packets always over rather than under-filled.

Well I took my nasturtiums back to the GC yesterday, The lovely people there opened another packet for me (14 seeds) and gave me them and the pack of 5. I still haven't heard from T&M themselves though, early days yet though.

I have a lot of seeds from Chilterns. They do a lot of unusual stuff too. Never been short changed by them, not yet anyway. Wilkinsons do a nice range and they are pretty generous, slthough I admit I have never bought Nasturtiums.

My plugs of Begonia 'Apricot Shades' arrived this morning and I was a bit concerned when I opened the package as some of the Begonias had come out of there little spaces and were lying on top of other plants I phoned T & M ( spoke to Anna) and explained that I was phoning to let them know that if the Begonias didn't survive I would be letting them know.Anna asked me to phone again in a few days and if there was a problem with the Begonias they would replace them. While I was on the phone I also mentioned that one of the giant fuchsias I got from T & M ( cost p&p only) was looking poorly.Anna ordered me a replacement there and then. I potted up the begonias and I have 45 plants out of 54 - now do I expect a replacement for the 9 plants lost? What would you do?

That's almost 10% down isabella. It's in their statement, let them replace them. They are not going to get any better unless you tell then they are doing wrong, are they. ;D ;D

I've always found T & M very good about replacing anything you're not happy about, no fuss. Most of the mail-order companies are good about that, but it's the number of times you get a problem that annoys me . Every year I say no mail-order this year, and then I give in to the pretty pictures , and nearly always wish I hadn't
