This is only my third spring with a garden, and I still get thrilled every time something emerges from what was, a couple of weeks ago, bare soil. Walking around today there were reddish shoots of Germanium 'Johnson's Blue', fat little shoots of Foxtail Lily, a tiny shoot of Solomon's Seal (which I thought I'd lost last year to the sawfly) It still seems quite magical - and it's hard to believe that everyone doesn't try to make a garden so they can enjoy this ... right, soppy moment over ;D ;D ... cheers ...

We really do seem to have so much coming through early this year, and the other day I wandered very slowly around just looking at all the shoots that I could see....I must admit that it felt good.
A slight panic overcame me as I thought of all the plants that I had to find room for, but I realised once again, that Spring really is a magical time of the year.

But that's what the buzz is all about.
I have a man in my offices who thinks I'm barmy for going on about the garden so much but then I don't enjoy propping up a bar or walking around a golf course much. Each to their own. ;D ;D
Fab init!!

Just waiting for next Spring when I can get 'Glassy-eyed' with my new emerging shoots of plants/Bulbs that I have only just planted!! A garden takes time to mature--so I have alot to look forward to.
CC--I am thinking of getting Foxtail Lillies--Any Tips?

Despite all the rain and cold, everything has come to life in my little garden too. It's lovely to see so many aqulegia coming up, I wonder what colours they will all be as most of them are self seeders which I've just let grow. ;D

I know exactly what you mean. I have to admit to a little squeal of delight when I saw the Pulsatillas uncurl their petals. I was so worried they had been lost with all the wet weather, but they look lovely. Next squealy moment will be any day when the Erythroniums wake up and say hello. ;D

I doubt if it ever stops being magical. If it does, I guess it's time to hang up the trowel.

Biggles, based on my (very limited!) experience Foxtail Lilies don't mind a bit of shade, but they really hate wet conditions - last year it came up, took one look at the rain, sulked and refused to flower - quite understandably ... so I'd put them in the driest place, and ensure plenty of drainage ... cheers ...

CC--Thanks I think I will order these Foxtail Lillies and put them in Part Shade/Sun the soil doesn't get waterlogged so they should be alright. Fingers Crossed!!
