noticed there was no garden whinge: have an offering: ;D
1. snails : the only reason why garlic, butter & parsley were invented 2. hail stones : don't you just hate them, tell me one good reason why they should exist? 3. unpredictable weather : how do you make god laugh ? tell her your' plans. 4. don't you wish you could have the name dolittle, and just talk to the d*mn animals that pee & pooh, slither, gooh, express themselves, congrugate and dessimate your plants 5. and as for aphids, darned commi bugs, where's the n*palm No6 is up for grabs ;D

Now then ....where do I start.....think you might regret this SS.
Standing at the front of the house, I will start with the neighbour on the left who is the lesser of two evils.
He is a great person, young and loves walking around half dressed and is bone idle in the garden. We are surrounded by trees and in autumn we are literally under a foot of the damn things. He hasn't moved one - just waited until the wind was in the right direction and we got them all.
Then he likes brambley things - raspberry, logan....any berries - and they must be draped on my fencing which my roses don't appreciate. He also thinks that you should fertilise the whole garden with at least 4 bags (2kg's each) of high power fertilizer and although he mows the lawn, the side are never strimmed and the grass seeds fly into my garden ...weeds. He also has decided to buy 4 trees - 2 cherries went in last year and another two whatever's this year - all far to big for the small garden.
So onto the other neighbour.....he doesn't get rid of any leaves either - again waits for the wind to send them to us. His whole front garden is full of ground-elder which is the bain of my life and I have sunk 50cm slabs upright into the earth to stop the stuff getting through again. He never sweeps the snow away in winter which is law here - has to be gone on the pavement for 7am. - guess where someone would fall...yep - glad that we are insured.
He has bushes on his terrace that he has let grow to nearly roof height as he says that he doesn't want any sun going into the house - that means that we do not get the early morning sun on our terrace anymore. Ivy is trying to get through our fencing all the time.
His meadow is mowed once a year after I beg him to, by which time the grass seeds are all in my garden and I spend hours weeding. I use high powered weedkiller just to keep the worst out. It is haven for half the German slug population and I used 4 packets last year in just keeping them down very slightly in numbers.
He has had 2 massive birches, a sycamore and a cherry tree taken down so that he can park his car and his horse wagon in the back garden - no problem if we had high fencing as in the UK but here it is often low - ours in only 90 cms high - so that means we see the damn car and trailer all the time.
To top it all he plays the horn and on a lovely quiet summers day he starts blowing his trumpet - quite literally.
Oh yes and the whole neighbourhood is full of cats - well I like cats - infact I was a cat owner in the UK, but I hate cat poo all over my garden.
I love gardening but I would love to garden just for me and not continually have to get rid of other people's rubbish.

Thought I should dampen the compo so got it back out (nice and warm) gave it a light watering, put it back ... SHELF COLLAPSED!! Pot, ginger and compost all over the place The shelves are now wired in so they can't budge again - still spitting feathers though! Tig

Know how you feel SS. One lesson I've learned though, is never trust the weather at this time of year in good old Blighty (most times of the year actually!!!). Thank God for my GH. Get one when you can. Lovely to stand in it and hear it bucketing down, thinking 'ha, ha, you cant get me or my littlies!'

my whinges are squirrels and leaves......
The squirrels are always digging up my bulbs and pinching the food meant for the birds and the leaves are never ending.....I'm still sweeping them up, my two neighbours either side don't bother clearing them up so they all blow into my garden...Grrrr.

I put my night scented stock, allysum and sweetpeas outside on sunday with the theory that they are HARDY anuals and won't mind it too cold.
Cue very hard frosts.
Think i've lost the stocks but allysum and sweetpeas look sad but ok
Luckily it's not too late to sow some more
