oooo Andy......it is all a matter of taste isn't it...just like roast beef and yorkshire puds or snails in garlic and butter - each to their own.
What a boring old world it would be if we all liked the same things.

i'd like to say, that my baby goat escaped. no one noticed for over 2 hours. apparentley she was ravinous, i'd also like to mention that i was n't here at the time. am considering (was going to say land-mines), an alternative method. there is an alphabetical botanical autopsy list upon request.....don't make me remember, etc etc...

dear shrub, there are perhaps three things that could survive a nuclear attack; cockroaches, a particular stripey plant & my goat. she's fine, rubenesque after her gathering.

My neighbours are known here - they both do bugger all in the garden but the one on the right side does at least mow his lawn and has a thing about watering. He waters all the time whether the garden needs it or not.
Now as he works away and only comes back every 2/3 weeks I looks after his beloved wine plant which is draped on our fencing. Yesterday he decided to water again for hours and hours - on my newly planted out tom plants.
I got him eventually and asked him if he could make sure that my toms didn't get wet through all the time because they didn't like it, especially in the middle of the day when it is red hot. He wasn't happy for some reason and said that he would think about it and wasn't there anywhere else I could put them. As his sprinkler is the same as ours, I do know that he can change direction/how much etc, so I didn't quite understand what he meant..and NO I am not going to move them.
Hah - like hell I will. I quietly reminded him that if he wants his beloved wine watering when he is away, then perhaps he could possibly take a little care that he doesn't water my toms in the middle of the day....
The grin that I got back says that I might have won this one...wonder how many toms he pinches when they are ripe!!!

Heaven knows what he is Shrub but he watered for 6 hours yesterday and I have just been in the garden and come back in wet and he has started watering again. I know we have sandy soil but there is a limit as to how much water even our soil needs.
I did notice that he has "sprinkled" a 2.5 kg bag of top fertilizer - real power stuff - in his "flower bed" which is possible 15 sq meters at the most.... the reason I know is that the bag is still lying on the lawn. The whole of the area is covered with little blue balls of fertilizer.

I have recently become aware that I have OCD tendencies in the garden, mostly in the greenhouse and in the bit I keep the potted up stuff in. I keep lining up the pots, matching sizes, colours, anything that can be matched, I do it. Now I'm thinking that I'll be worse with the veg, because that involves rows.

I'm the same Amo. I met a friend for lunch today in our local GC and I had to have a look round before we went our separate ways. It cost me £27.64 to look round!!?? ;D Wee, if you have to get a ruler out for your veggie rows you will know you have horticultural OCD!!

Take a good look at this---Is it dead? My whinge is not about my garden but about the Service from Spalding ' I had ordered two Standard Rose Trees last October from Spalding. When they arrived I followed all planting instructions but was not happy with the specimens when they arrived!! (October-last year) They still look dead (May 8th) so I telephoned them to complain-- Spalding boast "Customer Satisfaction and Returns policy if not satisfied" They just could not have cared less!!They have asked for a slither of the main stem to prove that they are dead!!--A photograph will not do!! So Spalding Customers Beware--I just can not be bothered to take it up with them they have lost a good customer (over a number of years) The most annoying part is I have seen the same variety in Standard Rose Tree in Morrisons for less the price and in a healthier condition!! Next time I will visit my Local Garden Centre!

I keep telling my OH that it is not my fault that I have to stop at the GC every time I pass - it's the fault of my car! She just automatically turns into the GC - nothing I can do ;D ;D

Oh Biggles that is terrible customer service and I don't think these companies realise/care that your complaint will probably put lots of people off ordering when it could be so different if you had a good tale of customer service to tell. TCL - so that is what is wrong with my car!! ;D

Bigs send them a slither of dead wood - and an accompanying letter stating your dissatisfaction as a good customer! Don't let them get away with it, where is your 'warrior spirit'!! They will just continue ripping customers off if you just give in to their bureaucracy! Go girl - Bigs the brave x Tig

Not only do I have a whinge, it is bordering on My neighbour, who wins all the stuff from Amateur Gardening magazine, and who never gets around to planting anything she buys or is given, has not yet done anything with the gorgeous, special sweetpea seedlings she won. They are still sitting in her shed, in the box, unwatered and almost dead. I commented that she must at least plant them into pots and give them a drink. But they will just be left to die. Wish she would give them to me. I would have cherished them. I know her well enough to go along and TELL her to give me them to tender some TLC. She would be quite happy likely. Then I could give her them back. Maybe
