I was wondering if any of you read 'Amateur Gardening' and enter the competitions? One of my neighbours (the one who buys but doesn't plant) is forever winning prizes. In fact, when I say as a joke "What have you won this week?" she invariably HAS! I know it is a widely read publication, and I cannot understand how she is just so lucky. Does no-one else enter the competitions? Recently she has won a goodly collection of small prizes of gardening sundries, but she has won a £200 lawn mower, £40 wellies, one of those stool/kneeler thingies, tub trugs, tools................................... Perhaps she is just plain lucky. ;D

Perhaps she is an habitual competition enterer. They do say that if you enter loads of comps you are likely to win a great deal <wakemeupwhenitsoversmiley>. However I've never heard them say that you'll win several times from one mag. So, to conclude, sorry I don't have a clue how she does it!! More power to her elbow tho'!!!

She's won another one This time a beautiful collection of 50 Sweetpea plants. All named varieties. 10 kinds, 5 of each. Surely hardly anyone phones to enter? The prize this week is Felco secateurs. I might give it a go. ;D

I won an art compy in 1999...and recently won £100 vouchers to spend at a local nursery (in a raffle) Also had a £10 GC voucher from GW mag for answering a 'readers' survey'.
OOOH I won a compy on GWD last year!...just remembered...I'm still reading my prize (a year's subscription to GW magazine ;D ;D ;D )
Don't usually win owt...but I'm not fussed. A lottery win would be nice..but it can't be a big one as I've now planted my tree fern (Bruce) IN THE GARDEN...so I can't ever move... ;D

Just grabbed a copy of AM and didnt check out the free seeds - They are Cleome Colour Fountain - grew these for the BBC trials and difficult - they have to be hardened off - too much like hard work and I think I only got a couple in the end

What's that all about? I've answered surveys etc on the 'net but didn't know about any gift vouchers! I'm not complaining you understand!

My neighbour has won again from the magazine, this time two strawberry planters. She is not a competition enterer except in Amateur Gardening. She has worked out that if she phones in her answer just before the closing date, she wins. This begins to sound a bit like the TV competition thing, where people are phoning at a £1 a time, with no chance of winning. Because names are not drawn at random as stated. With the magazine, it seems that it may be the last few contestants who are chosen. If this is the case, good for my neighbour, but a shame for all the other hopefuls.

My neighbour is now winning every week. Except for one week where there was an electric hedgetrimmer on offer. She was really annoyed because she didn't know the answer to the qualifying question (usually the answer is given in the text). When I pointed out that it wouldn't matter, because she doesn't have hedges, she looked at me scornfully. ;D She is winning with such regularity now, she isn't even excited anymore. The magazine really should do better.

I have never won anything my life and if I did I bet it would be something that I didn't want. I feel sorry for your neighbour Weeterrier.
