For those who dont already know--
Joe's dad is veteran thesp Clive Swift.--last seen in Doctor Who Christmas episode ( Voyage of the Damned) -better known as long suffering Richard in Keeping Up Appearances.
Tomorrow night in Gardeners World he is taking his family to view the new allotment in London--I am not sure if it is his Allotment or not. Might be worth watching--

Funny isn't it, as soon as I discovered the fact that Clive was Joe's dad, I could immediately see the resemblance between them. But now, I cant get the thought out of my head that his mum is Patricia Routledge aka Hyacinth Bucket

I think Joe is great. he has taken a bit of a bashing elsewhere for his allotment escapades with a rotivator (he'll learn ;D ) but I do think that of the present crop of presenters on GW he is my personal fave. His Dad was brilliant as Richard too.

Yes I like Joe aswell-He does have a 'look' of his Dad but it was still a surprise to find out that Joe is Richard's son.
Maybe his Dad's contacts were able to help him get on the Programme--
One of my favourites too--down to earth and 'No Frills' about him.

I like Joe but think it did help that Dad was such a famous actor - people you know that sort of thing He used to be on Take Three Gardeners with Ann-Marie Powell and Cleeve West - you dont see them much on the TV now and AMP is really good

I've known about Joe's parentage for a while, but didn't really notice the resemblance so much until last week's programme. I reckon once Joe puts on a little middle-age spread, they'll be like peas in a pod. The bit at the allotment has been the part of the series I have enjoyed best for a long time. He acted like many of us would react when starting afresh at something. No patience. And full of excitement and hope. Bet he would have liked to have put 'Roundup" over the whole plot

Clive Swift used to be married to famous author Margaret Drabble. I wonder if she is Joe's mum.
