i expect i am mad and gordon bennet is a good friend. the green ones are boring once you've eaten yellow ones. still there a lot of work to look after. still, keeps you fit. it's the oldest plantation in france, 40 odd years, 3generations of the same family. sr, any problems with yours?

Have you tried the red ones SS - I can only get them very rarely but they are better than both the yellow and the green ones?

cher rf, no, never seen a red kiwi until tonight, will show a picture to my boss, tomorrow. will advise him to think red. yellows are already here, & no reds. i start work at eight in the morning. we are about 6-8, in our team, we thin the flowers. the land we work on is an island, coveted by 2 rivers, north south facing, i face south. you park your car, in the shade. the foreman then shimmeys the boat across the river to the island of kiwis........

I must admit it sounds good to me and to get paid for it as well..... red kiwi's are really gorgeous - do you get to keep a few kiwi's as "perks of the job"?

cher rf, we're working over 15acres, in snow, hail, rain & sunshine. to-day it was 28degrees. yesterday was the same, came back home with a face like a strawberry. put sun factor 50 on to-day, a little less pink. kiwis are harvested in early november. we get to keep all the wee & squiffy ones. the ones the supermarkets won't sell. the mornings are fine, but after lunch the pace is a little slower, and your back a little less bendy. the rows can be up to 500metres long, 500 large strides. apart from the team i'm working with, the best bit is the wee boat, its so quiet, as it shimmies across the water. showed my boss a picture of a red kiwi, still wants to plant yellow ones, you have to wait 5yrs for a decent harvest. will be raining on monday , hope there's no thunder storms, it's a full 8hr day, no tea breaks, just lunch. not for the faint hearted, having serious camera issues, s'why haven't posted pictures for ages, but will try a wee bit harder to find a solution. promise ;D
