Mmm. Because ours is in the evening I think it should be a lot cooler. And I've just ordered a mobile phone case/carrier thingy off E-bay because my phone doesn't have a loop for hanging things or attaching a lanyard. It should fit my earphones too. Anyway I can clip my keys to the case and use LP's water bottle which also goes around her neck. So not too much to carry with any luck. There's one going on at Trentham today according to Radio Stoke. While mine is on OH and LP will be having a nice evening to themselves I'll report back in July! ;D

I'm starting to worry about how I'm going to carry all the stuff I think I'll need: water, sun hat (if I need one - our race doesn't start until 7.30pm), phone and earphones (for listening to the radio when I'm left behind by my friends!), car keys. There's no way I'm going to want to take a ruck-sack! That's a good tip about the sandwich though - I was wondering when I was going to eat and I wouldn't want anything before the race. And I'll be hungry afterwards! What time did your race start btw? I'm really looking forward to it now. I hope the hill in our race isn't too steep though! You'll be fine P, don't worry! I'm taking a bumbag with all of my bits and pieces in. It's padded around the back so shouldn't rub! I'm also taking a few tubes of Carbo Gel by Lucozade Sport. Not the most delicious of things (tastes a bit like orangy grease!) but they will make sure you've got enough energy to finish your race. Eat plenty of pasta too, I'm eating for Italy at the moment, up until the walk! I think alot is psychological, you know you can do it, so go for it! Good luck!! S x

Glad I could help P, just be positive about it I'll be going over the starting line at around 11.40 p.m. this Saturday! The forecast at the moment looks horrendous for Edinburgh, lots and lots of heavy rain . Still, as I said to you, 70% is effort and stamina, the rest is all in your head ........... convince yourself that you can do it, and you will . Now all I have to do is convince myself Good luck P S x

Oh Susie of course you can do it. You walk regularly with your dog so you have all the stamina and ability already. At least you won't get too hot if it's raining! One year they cancelled the R4L three times here so it didn't actually take place in the end. My friends who did it worked out a 5km walk and did it themselves so they could still collect the moment. Good luck Susie - I'll be thinking of you Px

Thanks also to TCL, Tig and Susie your messages of support. Susie, special good wishes for your Moonwalk this Saturday. I do love the bra you have decorated. Hope you are going to post photos of you in the race itself. Hope it doesn't pour down with rain. What will become of the lovely pink tassels! PJ

I've done it! Thank you everyone for your support and I'll certainly be doing a Race for Life again. I hope noone in these photos minds their piccies being shown - unfortunately I don't know them to ask them. Some of the messages on people's backs were very moving. The grey haired lady in front of me in the last photo, the lady with the walking stick - she lost her husband yesterday. I could have cried.

Congratulations Plocket on doing your Race for Life. Are you going to get a photo from Cancer Research as I got mine last week. They recognise you by your number - mine was 908. I will post it later!
It is very sad when you read the messages people had on their backs and the photos of young children. That is why it is so important to do just things like the Race. I will do it next year too.
PJ xx

I've signed up to be e-mailed when my photo is ready, which by the sound of things takes some time. LP says she wants to do it with me next year It IS very sad, but what bouyed us all up was the fact that so many women were making an effort to beat cancer. The atmosphere was fantastic even when the warm-up person didn't turn up. They got one of the competitiors to help with the warm up because she was an aerobics instructor. My friend ran it in 36 minutes - even through the muddy woodland hillside bit. The rest of us did it in 1 hour 6 minutes. I look forward to seeing your photo

Here are some photos of me from my Race for Life on 8 June. Just before the run - I am 2nd on the left. The professional pic from Cancer Research taken towards the end of the race - number 908 and I look awful! Notice I still "run" ahem walk with my dreaded handbag - my security blanket - and a full rucksack! Looking much happier after the race - I am 1st on the left. PJ

Just wanted to share, I did my Race for Life today. Although I'd been planning on running it, I met another lady on her own at the start and we power walked it together.
Was a brilliant day (although it took twice as long to get out the car park as it took me to do the race...!!)
