My friend would like to know what plants he can put into his baskets but not get eaten by slugs and snails. He has tried the WD40, Vaseline, Copper wire, Vic which seemed to work but he couldnt smell the plants for it, and still they get in and have a feast. Are there any plants that they dont like? He wont use the blue pellets so thats out. Please help he is getting desperate. Thanks for any help on this.

I think if slugs are hungry they will eat most everything but plants such as geraniums (pelargoniums), fuchsia's, lobelia, nasturtiums and lavender are known to be fairly slug resistant.

As an aside ... would your friend consider the Advanced Slug Pellets - they only harm slugs (and snails I think). They don't harm other animals because they are not poison based, they are made from something that slugs like, but that is bad for them and kills them. I have cats so that's why I use them. I emailed the company once and I got a lovely reply from one of their directors who told me that when they launched the product, they served it up as a sprinkle for salad - that's how safe it is. He said a cat or dog would have to eat its entire body weight in pellets in one sitting before it would stand a chance of harming them.

Can I hijack this thead please?
I put out my hanging baskets yesterday, went out this morning to check & something (assuming it a bird) has pulled out some of the plants & dropped them in various places round the garden.
Will they get over it do you think or am I likely to lose more?
