Hi all,
Why are my Aguilegia's flopping ?? Havnt had it any other year. They seem to be getting top heavy with flower and bud then falling over. What could be wrong ?

Can't help I'm afraid as I was just going to post the fact that it has been an exceptionally good year,here for them!! Could they be too dry?

Have you had any rain or been watering them to make the flowers heavy?

Of all things I've never known Aquilegias to flop. The stems always seem so strong and straight..................That doesn't help does it!!

Well mine are all pert!! I assume they are all self sown established plants? I always thought they were pretty problem free. Must be a water thing?!?!

I know, Aquilegia of all things !!! Usally very trouble free, pert, erect stems without any problems. I have watered with a sprinkler over the last couple of days but ive never had this problem before ! Come to think of it, my Lupins are a bit stunted and week lookin as well. All trying to push flower stems up but the leaf growth is just not there !

Mine have been affected by the winds Mr G, I have had to tie them in, they weren't flopping, just blown over!! It has been very gusty here. Tig

no problems here either. a couple of the stems are leaning bu t I've also put that down to wind

It's not funny when you go all droopy because of a wind problem!!
Have you tried digging one up to check for vine weevil or honey fungus etc?

I havnt dug them up, i may after they have stoped flowering. Seems a shame to do it at the moment !
