For some reason my otherwise healthy looking Photinia Red Robin is losing around 20 to 30 leaves per day. These are a mixture of new and old leaves, and this has been going on now for several weeks. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the plant at first glance but it just seems a very strange thing to be happening. Any ideas?

My Mum was commenting the other day about how the leaves were shedding from hers. There were quite a few about on the lawn etc but they all looked like old ones to me (even tho' they were red and she took some persuading that they were only red because they were dead!!) Had to explain to her that evergreens shed leaves all year but sometimes in "batches"......no explanation for yours tho' if some of them are young leaves> Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone Spru

Thanks for the info SR. I seem to think that this happened last year as well but with no noticeable detriment.

I have never seen a Photinia do well up here, in my own garden, in the GC or in the gardens I tended. Don't think they must like Scottish Weather. Maybe yours is just moulting Spru.
