Yes as I have already said elsewhere I was shocked to hear of Monty's ill health and do wish him a good recovery.
He is probably making the right decision, especially after what happened to Geoff Hamilton.

Yes, what a shame, but I am sure he'll make a complete recovery. Hope so anyway.

I don't like Monty Don, but obviously wish him a speedy recovery. There is also a rumour that Berryfields is up for sale.If so, I hope they go back to the tried and tested format of having a new presenter ( C.B hopefully ) working from their own garden. I expect Carol will complete this series and I think she and Joe are doing a good job

I wish him well and a speedy recovery. I wonder if it had something to do with him being ill during the filming of '......80 Gardens'?

It's taken me a couple of days to get over this! Poor Monty....and it's a real sadness to me that he is no longer going to present GW. I have always really enjoyed his writing and truly respect his integrity, sincerity and genuine passion for organic gardening. I hope he recovers very quickly and returns to his work as quickly as possible, fully recovered. I shall miss him. I imagine his brush with death last summer and subsequent extensive jetting about for 80gardens was part of the problem. I hope he takes the time to get his health back now. Take care Monty.

I was very sad to hear that Monty would be leaving GW. Us gardeners get very attached to the 'head gardeners' of GW don't we? I shed a few tears when GH passed away (and still think he was the bees knees) , and was miserable when AT decided it was time for him to move on to new projects. Monty has been an inspiration, he's a good communicator and an inspiring gardener and I will miss him dreadfully.
It's far too early to talk about a new head gardener for GW imo. I just wish Monty all the best for a speedy recovery, and good luck with any future projects (but take it easy for a bit!)

I really warmed to Monty after some initial doubts. He seems such a genuine sort of chap somehow, no airs and graces. And the fact that he is, like most of us, an enthusiastic amateur makes him "one of us" somehow. Speedy recovery Monty. God Bless.
