Thinking about this there are some which you think will work beautifully and don't. Some which are happy accidents for which you can take no credit and some which are contrived by you and actually work!!! This is one of the latter................ Anyone got any good plant associations, planned or accidental? Or for that matter any horrible clashes you own up to!!!!

Had a look around and was pleased with these two. All accidental. ;D

Lovely Amo. Just found another among the pics I've already taken. Will take some more (if it ever stops raining) whn I get the chance. I don't mean this to be a thread for deep analysis because plant combinations tend to be quite a personal thing. Something which sings to one person will be mediocre to another. Just put your favourite combinations on here and you MAY inspire someone else!!!

Those are great combinations. And Bluejay, quite a few of us could do with some hints on getting Irises to flower like that. The bearded, not the siberian.

As with everything in my garden, it gets planted & left to fend for itself!!! So I can't really give any hints as I don't know or take any credit. They have been in for three years now & this is the first time they have flowered like this or grown so well. They are near the front of the border (the only space at the time) and do get baked by the sun - if we have any - which I know they need to flower well, but it is all very hit or miss as far as I'm concerned

Here are a few more associations I like. You'll notice most of them are foliage. The flower ones are so fleeting but these are more constant. This one was accidental although I did plant them next to each other. Then they started to get really friendly! This is a contrived one I'm rather pleased with. And this is completely accidental. The Lamium seeded itself there.

That particular Lamium is a great plant I think. It provides a perfect foil for all sorts of flowers. This is one of my serendipity moments. I planted the Erysimum beside some bronze grasses, forgetting that I had planted Allium christophii.

Wow, that's a great combination. And a lovely Eryisimum too. Is it a named variety?

Damn I knew someone would ask me that. ;D It is a named variety. THink it was a woman's name, and I've tried to remember and find out what it was to no avail. When I look at pictures, sometimes it is difficult to spot differences. A neighbour has another pretty one, I must ask about a cutting.
