I've been putting down organic slug pellets for a while now, and while the ones in the pots last for a while, the ones on the ground seem to vanish over night. And then this evening I think I found the reason why. I was sitting very quietly and spotted a woodmouse eating them! I would have thought the pellets would kill a little mouse!

Evidently not Plocket - and a quick google showed you are not alone, a few people have posted elsewhere with the same comment, and one organic site commented that these pellets only effect slugs and snails so ickle mice should be OK and saying thanks for the blue treats ;D

We often get mice in the house, because the cats bring them in alive. Usually the cats lets me know, so I can quickly catch them. However, a few weeks ago, my little grandson was retrieving a toy from under a unit in the kitchen, when he said "Gran, there's a wee mouse hiding " Sure enough, it was sitting quite nonchalantly looking at us. I caught it and put it out the door, only to find it sitting at the door wanting in again five minutes later. I opened the door to see what would happen. In it came and sat square in the middle of the kitchen. With four adults, a child and the cats. It got taken quite a bit further away the second time.

How the heck did you manage to catch a mouse? They are so fast I can barely see them let alone catch one!!!!! If you had to get up two or three times a week in the middle of the night to catch a mouse, you'd soon be an expert PS Not only are they fast, they can jump really high too. ;D

I know! My cat used to bring them in too! Actually we did manage to catch a mouse while we were on holiday about three years ago. It was a brave little bu**er and all through the night we'd hear it rustling through our stuff in our downstairs bedroom. OH turned the bedside light on in the night and it was sitting right beside the switch!! Anyway I could barely sleep knowing it was in the house so we put a plastic bag on top of the wardrobe, where it liked to spend time, and put a bit of chocolate inside. As soon as we heard the bag rustle OH leaped out of bed, grabbed the bag and dumped it outside the front door. No more mouse! And I'm pleased to report that our mouse has been caught and dealt with

Very pleased you didn't get so stressed out with it that you felt you had to hurt (or kill! ) it Plocket I lurrve mice As Wee said, they are soooo brave and feisty! (ever had one bite your finger when you're trying to help it out!) Had them in the cupboard-under-the-sink years ago and bought a "humane trap" made of plastic. They ate it!!! ;D

I'm learning that they will eat anything NO! We've got them in the garage and I'm quite happy to let them do their thing at the moment because they aren't taking over. They started to eat a plastic ball that we'd got for the rabbit - it was hard plastic, probably similar to your humane trap! And the mouse in the house had a liking for cling-film as I mentioned. I'm leaving the ones in the garden too because at the moment they aren't a problem. It's funny isn't it? With all the stuff in the garden and the garage they eat plastic!!!

Yes, Nightowl, the little blighters are very ungracious sometimes, biting the hand that frees them. Though I think voles are even worse. ;D Rabbits just pretend to be dead,

Oh dear poor Plocket; I dont like the idea of mice in the house but i could just never put out traps - there must be something else But what cheeky beggars they are - wanting to be let in by the back door What must their stomach be made of to absorb all that plastic and not be ill and slug pellets too

I think I'm going to have to get some humane traps - I've a feeling we've got a couple of nests in the garden now and that's too many for me to cope with. I'm all for the live and let live thing but I don't want to be overrun with mice!!!
