Is Datura the same as Brugsmania? I bought three from Lidl, as Datura, and they are doing really well in the house. Can I put them outside in the Summer? Treat them a bit like my Fuchsias?

Hello According to wikipedia they are different now - says : Some species formerly included in Datura are now classified in the separate genus Brugmansia; this genus differs in being woody, making shrubs or small trees, and in having pendulous flowers. Other related genera include Hyoscyamus and Atropa. its also used by sadhus as prayer flower for lord shiva If that helps Jardack en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datura

Wee, I got these from Lidl last year. They spent last summer putting on loads of growth, but didn't flower - now they're huge and I'm expecting them to flower around August. Here in Dublin, they're normally left outside for the winter, but you may want to bring them in ... cheers ...

Well, I don't mind if they want to put on growth instead of flower, if they'll survive till next year. I'll bring them in with the Fuchsias. Glad you found them in Lidl too. Think they were just £3.49 this year. Bargain ;D

I love them! Mine ( bought in April) have been outside for a fortnight and have put on a lot of growth - no signs of flowers yet though. If they are in pots they need a lot of watering - and treating them like fuchsias is absolutely correct
