6ft 1in! Very impressive I went out to measure mine (only 5ft 6in ), got distracted, and ended up in a big dead-heading session, ate my first strawberry and my first raspberry, missed Emmerdale, and now I can't remember what I did with the tape-measure

I'm going to cut it off when they are ripe and wave it about on the piece of open ground outside my fence (or the slug'n'snail-landing-pad as it's better known!) ;D It already has trees and some daffs there, and I have infested it with Forget-me-nots and hardy geraniums for a bit more colour Even though it's communal ground I keep the bracken pulled to try and stop it taking over , and spray the dandelions to stop them coming over to me Re Foxgloves, I have a whinge I buy seeds of beautiful cultivated varieties and plant them in shady spots in my garden, as advised, and they disappear But let one wild seed land in an unsuitable spot (open, hot, dry) and it turns into a mega-healthy monster!!!

I kind of know what you mean NO. I have loads of wild ones about - they were all purple and white to begin with and now I have some lovely shades of pink/purple, white with a hint of purple etc. They are the most promiscuous wild things! ;D So I guess the lesson is - leave them alone, if you can, and they'll reward you

My Fox-triffid is now 6ft 10in, and I have counted 90-100 spent flowers on the main stem, with more still to go! And its 4 off shoots are doing the business too!
