This is supposed to be my wonderful Hibisciius Lavender Chiffon but something has happened to it - what though? I ended up taking 14 pics until I finally managed this - sorry about the hand. The leaves are dwarf, rolled a little - it looks as though there could be some kind of insects on it but when I looked wearing my glasses they look dead. I do hope there is some way of saving it. RF

Looks to me like aphids have sucked it dry. Wouldn't think you would lose it, though it might have a setback this year. Now, this is not advice, just what I know I would do, could be the wrong thing entirely. I'd give it a good prune, a good water and a good feed, and start this year again. You may not get flowers though.

Thanks Wee - I will really be sad if I lose this shrub. The weather is so warm at the moment, 28 - 30 deg still - shall I prune it back now?

I think you should wait to see if there is "better" advice coming. If not, try what I say, but try to shade the plant a bit to reduce trauma. Good luck RF. But I really doubt that the plant will die.

Your word is good enough for me Wee - will do. Temperatures are high today and tomorrow 30 - 32deg - it will be Wednesday before we get some relief, so I have planned it for then.!!
Fingers crossed.

Looks like it's a viral damage caused by aphids. WT's advice is pretty sound RF

Thanks a lot - the main thing is that I don't lose it. It is a little beauty. RF

Yes - even for here as well.
It is Hibiscus Syriacus "Lavender Chiffon". There is a white as well which is very nice but the lavender with the touch of red is lovely, I think.

What a shame RF and such a lovely flower I'd probably have done the same as suggested, give it a prune, water, feed and shade. I've seen them in Portugal with similar problems and they have been pruned half back and they've flourished, even without the shade
